Here’s another good day of crappie fishing at Clear Lake, California. 120+ 1.5lb averages are not uncommon here… that’s what Nelson caught by himself the day before he came out with us!

Clear Lake swimming? Not in that algae ridden pit. Great fishing though. I’ve seen HUGE crappies out that lake.

doesn’t your arms get tired from catching 120+ fish setting the hook like that?

When the adrenaline is running, he probably doesn’t feel any soreness, but I would think his shoulders would be a little sore the next day. He’s never said anything.

how do i get to clear lake from fresno ?

For new fishermen, I’d recommend live minnows. I’ve never fished there, but I assume you could find crappie there too.

It’s the theme song to Kill Bill

Fastest way would be to go straight up I-5, past Sacramento, then take 20 West until you hit Clear Lake.

thak you

what kind of rod are you using?
(Report comment)
Nelson is using a 7ft G Loomis IMX panfish rod, rated 2-6lb test. The other guy is using a Megabass rod rated 4-10lb. That rod (with the split grip) will set you back about $370.

what reels and size are you guys using? Is the brand of line important for Crappie? Thanks.
(Report comment)
The reel sizes are most likely between 500-1000. As long as you use premium line, brand shouldn’t matter.

I betcha I could catch as many crappies with an ugly stick and have a better time laughing because I just saved myself $500.

wow, great fish! love the soundtrack btw…

LOL. Yeah, you’re right about that. Some guys have the touch and others don’t.
